One of the Founding Partners of NASCAR Green Continues As Official Environmental Services Supplier of NASCAR

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 23, 2014) — NASCAR announced today it has reached a multi-year agreement to renew its official partnership with Safety-Kleen, and is among several companies renewing their commitment to NASCAR in 2014. The company will continue as the Official Environmental Services Supplier of NASCAR.

Novvi Becomes Renewable Engine Oil Supplier of Sonoma Raceway

Novi-LogoSonoma Raceway will team with Novvi, LLC this race season, as the Emeryville-based company supplies the raceway with its latest line of biodegradable and renewable lubricants.

Novvi Engine Oil, a high-performance oil sourced from plant sugars, is a drop-in replacement for traditional lubricating oils, but is derived from renewable resources. Novvi Engine Oil will be used in all raceway fleet vehicles. It is currently used in the two-stroke and four-stroke vehicles at the Simraceway Performance Driving Center, the driving school located at Sonoma Raceway, including the highest performance Lola open-wheel race cars. Novvi Air Compressor Oil and Hydraulic Fluid will also be used in equipment throughout the facility.

Leonardo DiCaprio Just Made Electric Racing a Reality

Venturi Automobiles has teamed up with Leonardo DiCaprio to form the tenth and final team on the grid for Formula E. And just like that, the world’s first fully-electric racing series is born.

DiCaprio and Gildo Pallanca Pastor, the founder of the Monaco-based EV manufacturer, are just the latest big names to join the series. Richard Branson’s Virgin Racing signed on last week, with Drayson Racing, Andretti Autosport, Audi Sport, and Mahindra Racing jumping into the field.

The all-electric racing series will run from September 2014 through June of 2015, with the first racing taking place in Beijing. Ten teams with two drivers each will compete in the series, which will bounce from Malaysia to Rio de Janeiro, Uruguay to Buenos Aires, Los Angeles to Miami, and on to Monte Carlo and Berlin before the season closer in London.

NASCAR Reaches Five Million Miles on Sunoco Green E15 Biofuel Blend

green-flagDAYTONA BEACH, FL – NASCAR announced today that during the NASCAR Nationwide Series(tm) race in Phoenix this past weekend it surpassed more than five million competition miles across its three national series on Sunoco Green E15, a biofuel blended with 15 percent American Ethanol made from American-grown corn. The five million miles have been accumulated across practice, qualifying and racing laps dating to 2011 when the biofuel was introduced to the sport.

Drayson Racing electric car sets new world speed record: 204.2 mph

Drayson-RacingDrayson Racing Technologies has broken the world land speed record for a lightweight electric car.

Its Lola B12 69/EV vehicle hit a top speed of 204.2mph (328.6km/h) at a racetrack at RAF Elvington in Yorkshire.

Chief executive Lord Drayson, who was behind the wheel, said the achievement was designed to highlight electronic vehicle technology’s potential.

(April, 2013) – At Speedway Motorsports, Inc., (NYSE:TRK) going green doesn’t just mean the drop of the flag, it is a companywide commitment to reducing material use, recycling materials, tires and oil, improving air and water quality and decreasing energy and water consumption. In fact, SMI’s Green Globe program, launched in 2011, is delivering a dramatic improvement in the company’s environmental track-print.

The most powerful AMG high-performance vehicle of all time has four electric motors producing a total output of 552 kW and maximum torque of 1000 Nm making the gullwing model the world’s fastest electrically-powered series production vehicle. The SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62mph) in a mere 3.9 seconds.

The most “electrifying” gullwing model ever has been developed in-house by Mercedes-AMG GmbH. UPS, Nascar Work to Give Racing a ‘Greener’ Image

Chrysler Group LLC, Ford Motor Co., and General Motors Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. rolled out new cars for the season that are designed to be more efficient and look more like their street-driven counterparts.

Now delivery company UPS is getting into the act by rolling out a new truck used for trackside deliveries in time for next weekend’s Daytona 500.
