(April 23, 2014) — NASCAR announced today it has reached a multi-year agreement to renew its official partnership with Safety-Kleen, and is among several companies renewing their commitment to NASCAR in 2014. The company will continue as the Official Environmental Services Supplier of NASCAR.

Novvi Becomes Renewable Engine Oil Supplier of Sonoma Raceway

Novi-LogoSonoma Raceway will team with Novvi, LLC this race season, as the Emeryville-based company supplies the raceway with its latest line of biodegradable and renewable lubricants.

Novvi Engine Oil, a high-performance oil sourced from plant sugars, is a drop-in replacement for traditional lubricating oils, but is derived from renewable resources. Novvi Engine Oil will be used in all raceway fleet vehicles. It is currently used in the two-stroke and four-stroke vehicles at the Simraceway Performance Driving Center, the driving school located at Sonoma Raceway, including the highest performance Lola open-wheel race cars. Novvi Air Compressor Oil and Hydraulic Fluid will also be used in equipment throughout the facility.

green-flagDAYTONA BEACH, FL – NASCAR announced today that during the NASCAR Nationwide Series(tm) race in Phoenix this past weekend it surpassed more than five million competition miles across its three national series on Sunoco Green E15, a biofuel blended with 15 percent American Ethanol made from American-grown corn. The five million miles have been accumulated across practice, qualifying and racing laps dating to 2011 when the biofuel was introduced to the sport.

Sonoma Raceway Hosts Climate Protection Campaign for High-Speed Fun

SONOMA, Calif. (Oct. 1, 2012) – Sonoma Raceway hosted nearly 30 local business leaders for a quarterly meeting of the Climate Protection Campaign on Thursday.

The raceway, which is a sponsor of the Climate Protection Campaign, utilized the event to highlight its own sustainable efforts, including a 1,700-panel Panasonic solar installation, as well as the recently-unveiled Sustainable Performance Ranking Metric. The Climate Protection Campaign works to inspire, align, and mobilize action in response to the climate crisis. It partners with business, government, youth and the broader community to advance practical, science-based solutions for significant greenhouse gas emission reductions.

“It was exciting for the Climate Protection Campaign to host their meeting here today, and we always like exploring unlikely or surprising subjects, like the raceway. Raceway Sonoma and NASCAR Plant 58 Trees at Vacaville Public Schools

SONOMA, Calif. (Oct, 12, 2012) – Four Vacaville public schools will be a bit more “green,” thanks to the raceway in Sonoma and NASCAR.

Fifty-eight trees were donated to the Vacaville Unified School District through “NASCAR Green Clean Air” — an initiative that neutralizes all the carbon produced by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events. The trees will be distributed between Markham Elementary School, Orchard Elementary School, Browns Valley Elementary School and Vacaville High School.

“This is a terrific initiative from NASCAR and we’re delighted to participate,” said Steve Page, president and general manager of the raceway in Sonoma. “We look forward to watching these trees grow and becoming part of the campus environment in Vacaville.”

A ceremonial planting of three live trees was held on Friday at Markham Elementary School, and was attended by Vacaville Unified School District Superintendent John Niederkorn, Markham Elementary School Principal Manolo Garcia, Buckeye Nursery’s Kim Bertotti, raceway representatives and several students.

KleenSpeed EVX-11 sets EV Lap Record at SONOMA RACEWAY

SONOMA, California … Sept. 7, 2012

KleenSpeed Technologies, Inc. took the all-electric scrambls / KleenSpeed EVX-11 racecar to SONOMA Raceway and established a benchmark track record for electric vehicles on Friday, September 7 at the 2nd annual Accelerating Sustainable Performance Summit in Sonoma.

In a four lap record run the scrambls / KleenSpeed EVX-11 posted a top time of 1 minute, 35.99 seconds over the 12-turn, 2.52-mile Sonoma Valley road course, which equates to an average speed of 93.75 miles per hour. It reached a top speed of 130 mph. Kevin Mitz, of Kevin Mitz Motorsports was in the cockpit for the record run.

“I really consider this my home track and the car really felt good today. The KleenSpeed powertrain is really amazing and the torque characteristics are very different from a conventional engine. This makes the EVX-11 a very unique, and fast, racecar.”

Voluntary Partnership Furthers NASCAR’s Position As Sustainability Leader In Sports

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 21, 2012) — NASCAR and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that provides a framework to encourage greater environmental awareness and adoption of green products and solutions with NASCAR fans and the entire industry. The MOU is a voluntary partnership around education and awareness. The agreement denotes some core areas NASCAR and the EPA will collaborate on moving forward including the following programs: E3: Economy, Energy and Environment; and Design for the Environment (DfE) labeled consumer and commercial products.

Fuel 21st Inc. Becomes Official Partner of Sonoma Raceway

SONOMA, Calif. (April 19, 2012) — Sonoma Raceway and Fuel 21st Inc. have entered into an agreement that will make the Napa (Calif.)-based company an Associate Level Partner in the raceway’s Accelerating Sustainable Performance program.

Fuel 21 is an ethanol gel fuel made from sustainable sugarcane, which provides intense heat that lasts longer than other warming fuels. Fuel 21 performs better than other conventional fuels, plus it’s all-natural, non-toxic, sustainable and cost-effective.

The company’s products include portable fuels for use in food service, retail and government for emergencies and disaster relief. As part of this new relationship, Fuel 21 will also become the “Official Food Warming Gel Fuel of Sonoma Raceway” and a partner at the raceway’s green summit, to be held in September.
